This image is very large about 1.5m x 1.2m it is a mono print made by inking up a formica table top and printing on photographic background paper. I used three tables and I am afraid you can see the lines where the tables join. This was based on a still life by Goya. One of his rare still life paintings.

Still life in parcel tape
Still Life in Tape 2013 |
Working on positive and negative, sections of paper are removed to reveal the black paper beneath. Electrical tape, parcel tape (sometimes in layers) and transparent papers are used to reveal the levels of tone. I like the blue tones in the original set up. Anyone know where I can get blue parcel tape?

Positive and negative impressions
Negative Radio 2013 |
The impression left by the radio on the velvet box on which it stood makes a strange image. It still suggests an electronic component but there is also something ghostly and X-ray about it.
The circular marks were left by cups which where left on the box prior to the radio being sited there.
Carpet Drawing
Luxury Red-bull 2013 |
Working on the idea of negative and positive, I compared contemporary luxury with ancient living. I still wonder which would be the positive and which the negative.
The image is a copy of one of the Lascaux cave paintings, it is drawn into the pile of the carpet using a palette knife.
The initial photographic image was boringly beige. Using only levels to create the colour in photoshop gave the resultant image, which is coincidentally similar in colours to the original cave painting.
